Letter to Parents/Guardians 3rd February 2016
3rd February 2016
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Parents
Association Yard Equipment Collection:
Many of you may be aware that Scoil Bhride PA have taken on the project of developing the school garden and outdoor play area in 2016. In a continued effort to encourage physical activity we would like to develop an "Activity Bin" system whereby several storage bins be filled with outdoor toys/equipment such as tennis balls, footballs, rackets, bats, skipping ropes, etc.
After Santa arrived and your homes filled with new toys and gifts, we would like to ask you to consider donating any unwanted outdoor equipment/toys for this initiative. A collection point has been arranged in school.
Thank you for your continued support.

School Numbers
I’m delighted to
announce that we will have enough pupils enroled next September to secure an 8th
Class Teacher. This is a tremendous
relief to our resources and I want to thank everyone for their support in this
matter. However, please bear in mind
that this teaching post is ‘numbers reliant’, therefore we will have to work
hard to ensure we keep numbers on the up over the coming years.
Safer Internet Day 2016
This initiative takes
part next week and marks the start of a period of the academic where we focus
on our “Stay Safe Programme” as well as other continual health and wellbeing
projects. Please ensure that you as
parents/guardians, take this topic of Internet Safety seriously. I have emailed a series of links via our
database, which will act as a good starting point for everyone’s research.
Healthy Eating Policy
Following up on a
number of queries, we will re-issue our Scoil Bhríde Healthy Eating Policy in
the coming days. It was also suggested
that we include the policy in the school homework journals in future and this
will happen next September.

Safer Internet Day
Safer Internet Day 2016
Dear Parents/Guardians,Please take the time to visit this website http://www.saferinternetday.ie/
It genuinely doesn't matter what age or class group you child is part of, everyone needs to up-skill themselves and become aware.
The above site is a great place to start. If you are a follower of twitter, look up #SID2016
This YouTube clip is another good starting point to discussing this issue with your children; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkl_jnGItDc#action=share
I will also discuss this issue with our PA and if it's decided to have a talk for parents, we can organise one.
I cannot emphasise enough how imperative it is that every Parent/Guardian takes the responsibility of spending time to research and discuss this topic with their children.
Yours in co-operation,
Séamus
